In spectacular news, my beloved Freshmeat has just recently recieved a facelift in a big way, with a new name and possibly even new funding/marketing. In this article on the website here, Patrick Lenz describes how and why the decision was made, as well as reminiscing on the close to 15 years history of the site. Since I was well-around then, and a big fan of the website, through my peer / social networks, I am proud that it is still around, and happy to see it get some much deserved support.
The old freshmeat domain will continue to work via redirections, apparently indefinitely, as noted on their twitter post, so no need to update your memebanks :)
